I had so much fun planning this dessert table! I think most thirty somethings would. Almost every little girl who grew up in the 80's owned the sweet berrylicious smelling doll, Strawberry Shortcake. I can still remember that sweet strawberry scent and it has been, well... a lot of years. I could have went really crazy with just the dessert table, but this little thing called a budget kind of gets in the way. My husband said it best, "These crafts are killing us!" My sister and I are still laughing at that one! Anyway, I had the honor of putting together my nieces Strawberry Shortcake dessert table. Her mom, my youngest sister and I were both thrilled when my niece told us that she wanted a Strawberry Shortcake Birthday. I started searching right away. The first thing I found was some really cute fabric at Beverly's. I used it to drape over the table cloth. I won some great vintage invitations on ebay. I didn't use the actual invitations. I couldn't stand writing on them, knowing I might not find any more like that again. I scanned the image and created some really sweet original invitations. I found all of the paper products on clearance at Michael's. They were simple strawberry print and a steal at fifty cents a piece. We had all kinds of strawberry candy, oreo pops and cupcakes. My middle sister made the cute cake. She decorated it in like a half hour, I think it turned out really sweet. She also found that super cute vintage Strawberry Shortcake shelf that we put the strawberry bubble favors on. She bought the shelf the morning before the party at a yard sale for $5. I still can't believe it! It was perfect for the favors and the perfect place for the real strawberry plant. I made the banner, the cupcake toppers, the candy labels and Strawberry Shortcake sign. I think the table turned out great and most importantly, my niece loved it as much as I loved creating it. I hope you enjoy all of the pictures. Let me know what you think!! Time to start thinking about the next one, a pink and black lady bug party!
